A message from our President
As we look ahead to a pivotal third decade, it is a real honour to step into the role of REN21 President at such a dynamic and decisive moment. From the beginning, this network has been guided by a simple but powerful truth: the shift to renewables cannot be driven by any one actor alone. That understanding remains just as relevant today, perhaps even more so.
We are living through a period of profound transformation. Around the world, more and more people recognise that renewables are not just an energy solution – they are the foundation for economic resilience, social stability, and energy security. But the shift to renewables will not happen on its own. It demands deliberate collaboration across regions, sectors and communities.
REN21 plays a crucial role in enabling that collaboration. We connect people and ideas, generate knowledge that informs decisions, and prompt aligned efforts at all levels. As we introduce a new vision looking toward 2030, I see a network that is ready to lead with openness and determination. One who knows real change only happens when we move forward together.

A message from our Executive Director
In 2024, REN21 celebrated 20 years since its creation. We used this moment to pause, reflect and realign. This past year was about laying the groundwork for the decade ahead. With over 130 members and partners, we co-developed REN21’s new 2025-2030 strategy, rooted in real-world experience, informed by regional perspectives, and shaped by people working across sectors to make renewables the foundation of our economies and societies.
We made space for difficult conversations, found common ground, and challenged traditional thinking. Through data, dialogue, and campaigns, our aim was consistent: to shift the conversation from isolated actions to a system-wide transformation. The 2024 Annual Report reflects that shift. It captures our work, but more importantly, it illustrates what happens when a network moves in concert. REN21’s foundation is its multistakeholder community. Everything achieved in 2024 was the result of shared commitment and collective action.
